DIN标准与欧洲标准EN和国际标准ISO的关系
德国是欧洲标准化委员会CEN(European Committee for Standardixation)的18个成员国之DIN在CEN中起着重要的作用，CEN中有三个之一的技术委员会秘书国由德国担任。DIN在制、修订标准时不断考虑到国际上和欧洲的动向，所以其经营的标准化项目数量也是逐年变化。在1984年DIN的标准化项目中有5％是国际标准化项目，12％是欧洲标准化项目，83％纯粹是本国国家标准，到1994年国际标准化和纯德国标准化部分各占25％，而欧洲标准化部分则为50％。随着时间推移越来越多的欧洲标准ENS(Europaeische Norms)已被德国采用作为新的DIN EN标准而取代了原来的DIN标准，如德国现有200多个钢铁产品标准中有近一半采用了欧洲标准，预计再过5-6年欧洲标准ENS将达到20，000个，这意味着23000个DIN标准中有20，000个是经过欧洲协调好的。
